Ultra-Creamy Gourmet Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients (Serves 4–6)
Potatoes
3 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes (or Russets for fluffier texture)
1 tbsp salt (for boiling water)
Creamy Base (No Milk)
Choose one or use a blend for luxury texture:

Heavy cream delivery
1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
OR 1 cup chicken broth or vegetable broth (lighter version)
OR 1 cup unsweetened cream cheese + ¼ cup water (extra rich)
Flavor & Finish
6 tbsp unsalted butter (add more if you want restaurant-style richness)
3–4 garlic cloves, smashed (optional, for infused flavor)
½ tsp white pepper or black pepper
1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
2 tbsp crème fraîche or sour cream (optional but very gourmet)
2–3 tbsp chives or parsley, finely chopped (optional)
🍳 Instructions
1. Prepare the potatoes
Peel potatoes and cut into even chunks.
Place in a pot, cover with cold water, and add 1 tbsp salt.
Bring to a simmer and cook 15–20 minutes, until a fork slides in easily.
2. Warm your creamy base
While potatoes cook:

In a small saucepan, heat your cream, broth, or cream cheese mixture with the smashed garlic cloves.
Heat gently—don’t boil. This infuses flavor and keeps the potatoes from cooling down when mixing.
Remove garlic cloves before using.
3. Drain and dry the potatoes
Drain well.
Return potatoes to the hot pot on LOW heat for 1 minute to evaporate excess moisture.
→ This step makes mashed potatoes extra fluffy.
4. Mash
Use a potato ricer (best) or masher:

Mash until smooth and fluffy.
Add butter first and let it melt into the potatoes.
Gradually pour in the warm cream/broth mixture until you reach your desired texture.
5. Add gourmet touches
Mix in:

Crème fraîche or sour cream
Pepper
Extra butter (if you want them very luxurious)
Taste and adjust salt.

6. Serve
Top with:

Fresh chives or parsley
A swirl of melted butter
Flaky sea salt
